Diyafah International School Model United Nations (DISMUN) was introduced in September 2021, with the objective of developing outstanding leaders, exemplary communicators, caring and compassionate individuals, who not only understand the pressing global issues but also deliberate and find solutions. This was originally started as an extra-curricular club activity. On October 26th 2022, the first inaugural edition of DISMUN was held successfully. This year, DISMUN was held on January 18th, 2023 and it was a grand success. The number of delegates more than doubled, from just 55 students in the first edition, to 125 students in the second edition. Model United Nations in the school has grown from being a small part of our activities programme, to being a seminal influence on our students’ learning, as they develop various skills to become articulate, forceful leaders. A remarkable feature of DISMUN is the way in which students of different age groups support each other through peer tutoring and pastoral care by offering constructive feedback.

We are now creating an opportunity for students from different schools to participate in the DISMUN, by hosting our first interschool MUN Conference in February 2024.

The theme for DISMUN 2024 conference is SUSTAINABILITY IS OUR FUTURE: ‘GO GREEN, BREATHE CLEAN’.
