Model United Nations (MUN) has become an integral part of the extracurricular landscape at Diyafah International School, fostering a vibrant community of students interested in global affairs, diplomacy, and leadership. MUN at our school isn't just about participating in conferences; it's about cultivating a deep understanding of the world's most pressing issues, while developing essential skills that go beyond the classroom.
The very first DISMUN was organized solely for the students of Diyafah in 2021 and 2022. With great efforts and time, in the following year, 2023, its doors were thrown open to other schools in the UAE.
The MUN program at our school is a hub of intellectual curiosity and leadership development. It prepares students not only to excel in academic pursuits but also to become informed, responsible citizens of the world. Whether it's through spirited debates, strategic alliances, or drafting resolutions, MUN equips students with the tools they need to make a difference on a global scale.
Moving forward we present this year’s theme “Global Collaboration in Addressing Challenges That Transcend Borders”, thinking beyond borders is a commitment to peace and justice on a global scale. It involves advocating for the protection of human rights, equitable access to resources, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. This theme will be discussed in 3 committees this year namely General Assembly, Security Council and UNHRC.
We are excited to announce that this year we are reaching out to a greater number of schools in the UAE while reaffirming our commitment to provide an intellectually and creatively challenging platform for our delegates.
DISMUN is a non-profit MUN, organized on the UNA-USA model of MUN. As it grows, it will become creative by the year, and continue to create global-minded, forward-thinking citizens.
