"Let Your Light Shine" is our founder’s vision, and next year we will be celebrating 41 years. All Diyafah Staff and Management continue to provide a holistic student centric approach by providing resources, pastoral care support ensuring our students feel they are a genuine part of the Al Diyafah High School rather than just headcount.
Sixth Form has its own exclusive Winne Dcunha Sixth Form Block block named after our Founder.
Students have the opportunity to study a wide variety of academic subjects and we are continually adapting our courses by following our philosophy, ‘right student, right course’ so students leave us well equipped for the opportunities & life beyond Sixth Form. There are also a wide variety of opportunities offered  to get involved in extra activities and for all our students to embrace the social aspects of Sixth Form life.

Q. 2 What is the main channel of communication between school and parents?

The main channel of communication is through the school’s ERP portal. All parents will be provided with the log in credentials. The portal must be checked daily every evening to stay update with Current news.

Please ensure your child’s profile and parent contact details/WhatsApp’s are updated. All communication via Email/SMS /WhatsApp and are done via Primary Contact as listed in the Portal.

Q. 3 Do the students have to wear School uniform?

Yes, at Al Diyafah all students are expected to wear the prescribed uniform both for on-campus classes and online classes. We have a different uniform for the Sixth Form than the rest of the school. Q 4 What are the attendance expectations?

Attendance is compulsory during all modes of learning (face-to-face or distance learning). A student is marked absent if they fail to attend classes. An absence is only authorized for the valid reasons, as specified in the student planner, confirmed by a signed letter from Parents/Guardians or by way of official documents to attest for the full duration of the absence. All students are expected to have at least 98% attendance rate

Q: 6 What are the technology infrastructural facilities available at Al Diyafah high School?

We pride ourselves on being a “SMART SCHOOL” over the years and  we have invested heavily in IT staff, IP Infrastructure, Firewall and Broadband capability across the Campus Diyafah Schools has been a “Microsoft Showcase School” since 2018. Our staff and students have been provided MS O365 licences upto 5 devices and 1TB of online space to hold and store materails.

Our Policy and Vision working with MS O365 Teams/OneNote with our stduents is a part of Diyafah culture and this helped us to sucessfully switch off when COVID-19 pandemic lockdown with virtual and distance education. Another contributing factor is the ongoing online training of our educators through the Microsoft Educator Center website. (MIEE) Our Staff get Microsoft (MS) certified which lead to our certification of Microsoft Showcase School.

Wirelss Router/Access Points: Diyafah Schools have invested in RUCKUS a premium wirless connnectivity product and our campus is         currently Wirless Enabled for Staff and Students and handle all workloads.

BenQ Interactive Flat Panels: Currently we have upgraded from our Interactive Boards to BENQ intelligent Panels and by spetember 21 every classroom will have a panels which will upgrade &  provides unique features for Collaborative Learning. These interactive Flat panels facilitate teachers in preparing sharing screen and delivering  lessons to achieve real-time collaborative classrooms.

Q: 7 What devices will students need to carry in daily to school? BYOD: (Bring you Own Device)

Students from Year 3 upward are required to carry a laptop (preferred device for school)/ tablet/ iPad for lessons daily which must tbe registered under the School’s BYOD policy. Students caught misusing their devices/accessing restricted materials will be liable for strict action including suspension/expulsion from school. Please refer to our BYOD policy

Q: 8 what are the specifications of a laptop that is expected?

Recommends the following specs for a LAPTOP device. Given the current situation, it would be prudent to buy the latest LAPTOP configurations to ensure the device is future compliant for newer applications as well as fit for any Exams (including Boards).

From a proctoring standpoint:A laptop is the recommended device for all Exams.
Paid Antivirus:such as Malwarebytes, Bitdefender, Kaspersky, McAfee, Norton 360, etc.

Q: 9 How Does the School ensure online safety?

Dsafe – Diyafah safety online -has invested in Fortinet Firewall which track and monitoring all activities. Students caught misusing their devices/accessing restricted materials will be liable for strict action including suspension/expulsion from school. Beside this ADHS has frequent seminar on Online Bullying and inform students how to manage and surf the web safely

Q:  10 How is Health and Safety(H&S) managed ?

Dsafe: Diyafah H&S - Diyafah Schools  has been graded Outstanding as H&S is a part of the Diyafah Culture. Staff and Students wellbeing is always on the forefront and product used to clean and Sanitize are of top certified quality and Suport Staff are all trained in this process and follow all gudielines.

Staff getting vaccinated against the Covid-19, currently stand at 94%.All staff and students entering continue with  temperature screening. Chemical used are Diversey for cleaning and Sanitization.

Q. 11 What are the assessment protocols?

Assessment is an integral part of instruction, as it determines whether the goals of education are being met. Paper based assessments will be conducted on campus under the supervision of an invigilator. However, in the event of having to conduct an online assessment, all students are expected to follow the online assessment protocols dictated by the school. The online assessments will be administered through Microsoft Teams. From a proctoring standpoint all students to use a laptop (see specification above Q 8) for all assessments.

Q. 12 What is the Personal Enrichment Programme (PEP)/Events/Activities available in Al Diyafah High School?

The programme aims to support our Students to reach their full potential through developing the personal and career related   skills that they need to make a positive contribution to their communities and wider society.

 

What co-curricular activities are available?

  • In the Sixth Form, all students are encouraged to take part in a range of co-curricular activities which are either timetabled, take place at breaktime or after school.

  • Sport is timetabled over the week with a range of options available that include team sports, such as Hockey, Basketball and Football and individual sporting opportunities such as Badminton, sprints etc.

  • Students are also encouraged to start up clubs where they have a specific interest or talent – recently a Drone Club and a Photography Club were set up for the first time by students of Sixth Form.  We offer students an opportunity to join (amongst others) , the Debating Society, Young Entrepreneurs, Model United Nations, Community Action, Chess Club, Mindfulness club.  A range of subject specific clubs are operated by Sixth Formers to work with younger members of the school, such as the P.A.L.S  ( Peer assisted Learning Strategies), Math Buddy Scheme, Paired Reading and the Language Ambassador Scheme.

 

ADMUN

MUN provides an opportunity to research contemporary issues in world affairs, practice arguing and   public speaking and develop teamwork skills in spontaneous and impromptu situations. In recent years students of sixth form have taken the initiative to organise and run these internal and external conferences with great success. It is excellent preparation for a whole range of university subjects and most importantly it is a challenging yet fun and engaging activity.

Our Students never miss an opportunity to reach out & Shine to make a difference in the local environment and community, creating caring local and global citizens caring about the wider world

 

Debate club

Debating is a fun, interactive club which is designed to improve each student’s ability to form balanced, informed arguments and to use reasoning and evidence effectively.

The debating clubs in the school, meet to run formal debates, discuss issues that concern them and simply to argue with their peers! Clubs interact, with senior students judging junior debates and helping them to choose their motions. Each year we enter and win a range of intra and inter school debate competitions.

 

Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Programme and awards

Be part of this prestigious programme. “University applicants need examples of the key attributes that employees look for such as leadership and teamworking skills. DofE is a great way to achieve a lot of these in one go, though graduates need to take time to show how their DofE experience is relevant to the role that they are applying for.

 

Student Executive Council

  • Members of Student Executive Council are elected representatives from sixth form
  • Its main purpose is to develop leadership skills among the students. This council act like a bridge between students, faculty and the management.
  • Many students have launched their own clubs and societies with considerable success and we are very keen to support and nurture students in these kind of ventures.

 

Editorial initiatives

We are proud to have a self motivated editorial team led by our sixth formers, with plenty of ideas and initiatives

  • The Senior Sixth(Year13s) produce a Yearbook as a record of their schooldays.
  • The publish a bi-yearly school magazine titled “Mindspark”
  • Our Podcast team create podcasts can help students organize and communicate, building key writing and speaking skills while also learning recording, editing, and publishing skills.

Q: 13 Does Al Diyafah High School have a inter house system?

Yes, we have a very active House system.  The House point system applies to all students in the school from Year 1-13. Every child is given a House on entry to school, and they will remain a member of this House throughout their time at school. Through this system, core values such as raising aspirations, team spirit, healthy competition and community values are instilled in students.

House motto: Discover new Horizons. The motto stands for the spirit of adventure as of the explorer himself.
 
ALBERT EINSTEIN (YELLOW HOUSE)
House motto: Look up, Get up and Never give up. The motto stands for gaining knowledge with an open mind, as the genius himself.
 
WILLIAM WORDSWORTH (BLUE HOUSE)
House motto: Strive to Conquer. The motto stands for creativity, as the poet himself.
 
JESSE OWENS (GREEN HOUSE)
House motto: Race to the Finish Line. The motto stands for determination and fighting the odds as the athlete himself.

 

Sports team / House Captain

  • House Captains will be ambassadors for not only the PE Department but also for the whole School. Younger pupils will look up to them as role models for the School sport and they must lead by example. We expect them to take a full and active part in PE life and help with co-curricular clubs in their chosen sport.
  • Throughout the year, their role will involve helping with and organising Sports Day, running inter-form competitions, assisting at tournaments, attending our sports awards ceremony, reading out PE notices in assemblies and writing the end of term PE report.
  • House Captains apply for the role and once appointed they will be asked to sign a contract to confirm their commitment to fulfilling their duties.

University and Career Guidance

Q: 14 What else can help me to get a place at university?

Extracurricular activities are also a great benefit to a students’ resume when it comes to applying for universities or jobs. Universities, for example, love to see evidence from a prospective student that they are willing to go above and beyond to develop new skills. Extracurricular activities also demonstrate that you have varied interests and a curiosity to learn beyond the traditional classroom.

Q: 15 Will I receive guidance on applying to University and Career choices?

Al Diyafah High School has an outstanding record of helping students to gain places to study at top universities.  Students can also receive support when applying to foundation courses, internships or to study abroad.Our staff focus & work with our  students in highter secondary which continues into the Sixth Form on skills needed:

SCHOOL REOPENING – AY 2024-25

1. Has the school fees increased?

  • The school fees is increased by 2.6%, as approved by the KHDA for this academic year 2024-25. 

2. How can I get a complete breakdown of Ay 2024-25 Terms fees and make payment as per due date?

  • We request you to pay the school fees on time. In case of non-payment of fees after repeated reminders, we will have to take actions as guided by KHDA .
  • Parents must log-on to the Parent portal via schools website www.diyafah.com using the Parent Code and view the fee section.  Click here for Parent portal.  All Payment must be made as per year wise fees listed. Multiple payment options are listed.

3. Will I be charged any excess amount for paying through a Credit/Debit card?

  • No, all excess charges for payment via Credit/debit cards will be borne by School.

4. How can I make payment for Students exercise books after selection make payment?

  • Parents must log-on to the Parent portal via Schools website www.Diyafah.com using the Parent Code and view the book section.  Click here for Parent Portal and make payments.

5. How can I collect the exercise books after payment along with Students ID card

  • Books will be handed to students (Years 4 and above) in class when school opens along with student ID cards. We will share information of the book distribution for FS and Year 3 through a separate circular.

6. What options are provided for payment of school fees?

  • The Parent portal is set-up for payments as per 3 terms only – this is the standard on which the school has been operating on. Fee for Years 11 to 13 must be paid by 2 terms.
  • •No Discount or Fee Reduction
  • •Maximum Installments to be provided is payment in three installments
  • •All the PDC’s should be submitted along with the 1st installment
  • •PDC’s cannot be kept on hold on the due dates: however, PDC’s can be replaced with another mode of payment with 7 days prior intimation

Health and Safety protocols

7. What health and safety protocols will the school be following?

  • The School will be following all guidelines as required and will adapt as per current protocols. Health and Safety has been outstanding in all KHDA inspection reports and will continue to be Outstanding
  • •Special chemicals will be purchased from reputed company certified by DM.
  • Safety measures for all staff are in line with health protocols
  • •Additional Sanitization teams & staff will be deployed for daily sanitization of Bus Transport and School classroom/campus
  • •School is working closely with the authorities to make sure all the facilities meet required standards
  • •The school has improved its infrastructure to meet the need of the current situation
  • The school is working along with our cleaning company Prestige to follow all health and safety protocols making sure all Sanitization/Disinfection/cleaning protocols are as laid down by the regulatory bodies. The school is investing heavily in this process using good quality product and all cost will be taken on by the School.

8. How can I get a Parents ID card?

  • Parents ID card is compulsory and must be worn and shown to the security when picking up students. The security is empowered to stop any child going out with an adult without proper verification. Parents who need a replacement or an additional card can send an email to the Registrar, normal charges will apply. New parents ID card will be issued by registrar – email registrar@diyafahschool.com.

9. Is ID card mandatory for students?

  • Yes, towards safety and security of all students within the school premises, all students must wear their ID cards at all times. Please note the Student ID cards are linked to transport and school attendance.

DIYAFAH PARENT PORTAL – USER GUIDE

How to login to Diyafah Parent Portal?

  • Launch the School Website www.diyafah.com
  • Click on “PARENT PORTAL” displayed on the top right corner of your screen.
  • Choose the relevant Academic Year eg. 2021-2022. This will bring up the login screen, provide the Parent username (i.e. P followed by a 5 digit number) and password provided to you by the School.( If you have forgotten your password please click on “Forgot Password” to send password to your registered email id )
  • To update your password, click on Change Password, on the Home page of Parent Portal.

What information is available on the portal?

The Portal view will currently have the following information:

  • Communications: All Circulars, Homework, Newsletters, Weekly planners, Policies and Alerts will be available to view.
  • Home: for centralised viewing of all currently active modules.
  • Parent Profile: lists the parents’ profile as per information held in our database
  • Student Profile: lists the student’s profile as per Information held in our current database.
  • Library: Lists all Books relevant to Student’s year group, which can be viewed and reserved online.
  • Report Cards: Displays the Students’ Internal and External Report Cards published.
  • Fees & Services:
    • Fees: Lists the School Fees as per instalments payable.
      Upon payment all receipts can be viewed and printed online at home or viewed using a mobile device.
    • Other Events/Activities: Lists all payments for internal and external events and activities hosted by the school and registered/enrolled for by the student.
  • Contacts: Lists contact details of services at Al Diyafah High School.

How to access/view siblings with parent login?

  • Click on the Student Profile (Displayed on left side of screen) and choose the student from the dropdown to view the information corresponding to the student selected such as report cards, fees and communications
  • If any changes need to be made in the Student Profile page, kindly contact the Registrar.

How to update address/email id/phone nos.?

  • Upon successful login, Parent Profile page is displayed which lists details of Father and Mother held in our database.
  • These details can be updated anytime.
    **Please keep all details on this page updated at all times to ensure you received all communications circulated by the School via SMS and Emails, which are always sent to this registered contacts ONLY.

Photography Consent

  • Click on the Student Profile (Menu on left side of screen) and select the student for whom you would want to view the details.
  • At the bottom of the page, Photography consent declaration is available.
  • Choose Yes or No and click on Submit if you haven’t done earlier.
  • The Submit button will be available only if the consent wasn’t given earlier.

How to access Report Cards?

  • To access Report Cards, Click on Student Profile (Menu on left side of screen). Choose the student for whom you would want to view the report card.
  • Click on Report Cards (Menu on left side of screen)
  • Click on Internal Exams to view the relevant Report Card. For students of Year 3 onwards, External exams as well will be displayed, which holds report cards for external exams such as CAT4, GL Assessments, etc.

Communications – Circulars/Newsletters/Alerts.

  • Click on Student Profile (Menu on left side of screen). Choose the student for whom you would want to view the school communications
  • Click on Communications (Menu on left side of screen) and then navigate into the specific section within such as Alert, Circular, Homework, Newsletter, Policies, Resources.

How to make Online Payment?

  • To check outstanding Fee details, Go to Fees & Services (Menu on left side of screen) > Fees > Invoice
  • Select the Term(s) for which you would want to make the payment and click on Confirm to Pay button at the bottom of the page.
  • Once you click “Confirm to pay” you will be re-directed into our privacy policy. You are required to Agree to the proceed. Once you agree, Click on Proceed to Pay.
  • In the next screen please enter your credit/debit card details
  • Once payment is made, your payment details will be shown on the portal as PAID.
