I write to you as we complete our first month into the new academic year. The last month was packed with activities. We had the Prize Day celebrations for both, the Junior and senior school. Our new Student Council was selected and given badges during the Investiture Ceremony. The new Student Council promised to lead the students with responsibility and respect, and encourage them to make the most of all the opportunities that are available to them.
Even though the working days were short because of the Holy month of Ramadan, we were able to achieve all we had planned for, during this time.
After the Eid Break, the students celebrated Teachers’ Day and it was heart- warming to hear some of the messages that came from our students. The Junior School had the Parent/ Teacher/ Child interaction day on the 11th of October. We also look forward to the week -long Book Fair to be held in the school from 11th October to 16th October.
We believe the special recognition of each student's unique individuality helps them to grow into self confident individuals. To promote this we have an Activities Programme on two days of the week when students can pursue their interests and develop skills in areas other than academics.
I would also like to focus attention on the effects of the rapid growth of technology on our young students. Modern communication such as texting, emailing, internet chat forums, can damage students’ ability to write accurately, if not checked. Furthermore, computer games, television and iPods can, disrupt the art of conversation and if we are not careful, promote a less active lifestyle for our youngsters. We would like the support of our parents as we try to discourage the over use of such technology.
The year ahead is a promising one that has a lot of opportunities in store for our students. We encourage them to do their best. We have an expectation of high personal and academic standards from them. We focus on students being well behaved and disciplined, completing class and homework, wearing their uniform with pride, and respecting themselves, their peers, their teachers and their parents.
