THE FOUNDER
Mrs Winnie D’Cunha
The founder’s main objective was to draw out the best in each child’s spirit, mind and body. This inspired her to provide an atmosphere that developed student values and intellect so that they may see, perceive, understand, discern and evaluate true life situations, thus enabling them to grow as individuals with confidence in oneself and in the world around us.

THE PAST

1982
Al Diyafah High School was founded 24 years ago, in September 1982, by Mrs Winnie D’Cunha. It started as a Nursery with only 2 children in a small villa located at Diyafah Street, Satwa, Dubai. That’s how it got its name.

• September - October1982
Within the month, about 20 students were enrolled with Mrs D’Cunha and Mrs Annette as teachers.

• October 1982
Mrs. Magda Mohamad joins Al Diyafah. She’s still with us.
Nursery and Kindergarten class was one.

1983
• The Nursery was separated from LKG and HKG was added on
• The school purchased it’s first School Bus with Raghu as Driver
• A new villa was bought in the vicinity to house the LKG and HKG

1984
• Year 1 was added on

1985-1986
• School moved to 3 new villas in Al Wasl road
• Year 2 was added on

1987
• Year 3 was added on

1988
• School got permission from the Ministry to open classes upto Year 7

1994
• Mr J Ferdinand was appointed Head Master of Al Diyafah School

1997
• The school moved into a new villa in Jafliya, Dubai

1998
• The Founder, Mrs D’Cunha passed away.
• Mr J Ferdinand was appointed Principal of Al Diyafah School

1999
• Mr Rocky Miller was appointed Principal of Al Diyafah School

2001
• The School relocates to the new site in Al Ghusais, with its playing field, basketball and tennis court and bigger corridors and classrooms.

2005
Mr Keenan Pimenta was appointed Principal of Al Diyafah High School.

THE PRESENT

The school today, has children from Nursery to Year 11. The school has science laboratories, a computer laboratory, an audio visual room, art and craft room, a music room, a tennis and basketball court, mobile basketball practice boards, a grass football pitch, play equipment for the Primary children and other facilities to enrich both physical and mental activity.

2006
The first batch of 33 students of Year 11, 14 boys and 19 girls have just sat for the IGCSE examinations held in the May / June session.

The school is recognized as a High school by the Ministry of Education, UAE and is registered with the University of Cambridge as a centre to conduct IGCSE and AS/A level examinations.

Provisional admissions to AS level will open soon.

September 2006
The school has expanded with a new extension ready to house AS and A level classes as well as a host of activities.

September 2007
The school grew from strength to strength. The number of students reached 1355. A batch of 38 students gave the IGCSE examination, and 26 appeared for the ‘AS’ and ‘A’ level examinations that are conducted by the Cambridge International Examination body and Edexcel.

September 2008
Mrs. Joyce Rufus was appointed the Principal of the school. The school presently has over 1300 students from several nationalities, all studying together as one big family. The school has indeed, grown in name and number. We offer to our students, a wide range of subjects from the Science, Commerce and Humanities streams. The primary section has progressed to a very competent senior school and as the vision continues to take flight, we now move on to greater heights.
